History

Vittoria Accoramboni, between poems and ardent loves, is the famous and historical tenant of this Suite. A poetess whose poems have been lost, in love with a married and powerful man, Vittoria is a strong and independent woman. Her love affair is opposed by her family, the nobility and even Pope Sixtus IV. Her love costs her closure at home, imprisonment in Castel Sant'Angelo and exile in Gubbio, but the love between Vittoria and Duke Paolo Giordano I Orsini transcends marriage ties and social conventions. After Vittoria's husband and his wife Isabella dei Medici were killed, they took refuge here, in this flat, on 10 September 1583 and celebrated their clandestine marriage. A story of love and passion, full of strong emotions that has inspired several literary works, and it all happened here.
